Topic Thursday: What subject is Taboo for you?

Whether you read Adult or YA? Or even both, What subject to you is too much and makes you either cringe or it totally turns you off from that book?

I, myself have yet to come across a topic that has pushed the boundaries for me personally, though one book last year I think was darker and more depressing than I read before and that bothered me but I still liked the book.

Let me know your opinions.........

  1. Hmm. I haven't read or come across a book that's taboo for me. I read a big variety of genres.

    1. Me neither, not yet anyway. A long time ago I read A Child called It and That book disgusted me, not the writing just what was done to that boy. It made me sick a mother could do that to a child.

  2. Rape, especially that of a child is my biggest hot button. Torturing animals is another one and probably makes me even angrier than one human wreaking havoc on another human, something about the very idea puts me into a rage state.

Donna not too much is outside my "comfort zone" as I am an action junkie who enjoys a good bloody fight between the good guys and the bad guys, let something horrible happen to a child or animal and I am totally bothered to the point of having nightmares!

    1. I agree, with one of a child its hard to stomach on the news much less in a fictional book.

Neither myself though that one book I mentioned a while back it was so dark that it was a hard read.

  3. A "dark" read is essential every once in a while to make us appreciate all the "ligher" fare we normally flip the pages of Donna, it does not make certain reads easier though that is for sure.

The only way I can get through some parts of a book is to remind myself over and over again that it is just make believe like the gory movies that I watch with all the shoot outs and death that would otherwise give me nightmares if I forgot for one minute it is all smoke, mirrors, make-up and the actors who died are now starring in the next have to see action flick!

    1. LOL I know, my sis in law makes me watch scary movies every Halloween.

I mean I love vampires and such, but I haven't read too many Horror. I have a couple on my Kindle that were freebies I thought maybe give them a try. But if I have nightmares, that will be the end of that.

that book did make me appreciate all the fun light stuff I normally read that is for sure.
